The rules in Austin
- How often. Austin City Code §15-10-197 requires every grease trap to be completely emptied and cleaned by a permitted liquid waste hauler at least once every three months, or sooner if grease and solids in the final compartment reach 50% or more of the wetted height.[1]
- Who may pump. The hauler must be licensed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and permitted by the City of Austin, and must follow the city's trip-ticket manifest process.[1]
- Records. Under §15-10-165(B), manifest records must be kept for up to three years.[1]
Officially listed companies
Austin Water publishes one list of all active liquid waste haulers (downloaded 2026-10-22, 67 entries). It mixes septic, portable toilet and grease haulers, and the city states it neither recommends nor endorses any hauler on it. Below we show only listed haulers whose name refers to grease or whose own website advertises grease trap service. Phone numbers are as published by the city; blank means the city list has none.
